A new Strain of the COVID-19 virus has been reported through news and social media, first detected in September, in south-east England. It is causing concern because of its higher contagious rate. We understand that a new strain causes fear and it leads us to believe that we are dealing with the Pandemic disease more so than ever.

The first and most important thing you need to know is that variations or mutations of viruses, such as the COVID-19 virus, can be new and unexpected but, it is also to a certain point, normal. The virus that was first detected in Wuhan, China, last year, is definitely not the same one we are dealing today in most parts of the world.

Viruses variate over time and it’s the reason we let you know that you can be safe during this new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus.

Here are some of the most common questions that have emerged as the new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus was reported:

IS THE NEW STRAIN MORE CONTAGIOUS THAN THE PREVIOUS COVID-19 VIRUS?

The new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus is causing concern because it has been quickly replacing previous versions of the virus. However, there is no clear and conclusive evidence that the new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus is more infectious than the previous one. Studies have not concluded and information is not completely certain.

As mentioned earlier, viruses variate and this might just be the case of the COVID-19 Virus. In any case, it is good to take precautions and measures to protect people against the virus more than ever. Bio-One offers COVID-19 industry-leading COVID-19 decontamination and disinfection, as well as a variety of services.

WHERE DID THE NEW STRAIN OF COVID-19 VIRUS APPEAR?

As we’ve mentioned before, variations of viruses occur and in this specific case, it was first detected in south-east England, back in September 2020. South Africa also detected a variation of the Virus, although is not the same one as this New Strain that took over. Other countries that first encountered the New Strain were Denmark, the Netherlands and other European nations.

As of December, the new Strain was reported to be the most common version of the COVID-19 Virus, having reached an approximate of 60% of the new cases.

DOES THE VARIATION OR NEW STRAIN MAKE THE COVID-19 VIRUS MORE DEADLY?

No. Although it is under strict monitoring, there is no evidence that the new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus is more deadly than the previous one. Now, being reported that the New Strain is likely to be more infectious, you need to take care of yourself and your family, more so than ever. Bio-One is here to help you with COVID-19 Decontamination!

WILL THE VACCINE BE EFFECTIVE AGAINST THE NEW STRAIN OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS?

Thankfully and, so far, yes. All of the leading vaccines are meant to develop an immune response against the existing spike of the virus. The New Strain can be interpreted as a warning sign and, for the specific case of the COVID-19 Virus, it can variate to the point of escaping or suppasing vaccines.

Now, it is something expected and common viruses, like the flu, are usually updated periodically. Furthermore, it’s important to mention that these leading vaccines can be tweaked if necessary, very easily.

We understand that the new Strain of the COVID-19 Virus triggers alarms and makes us anxious about the months to come. However, it’s important to remain calm and keep trusting in the efforts of the medical forces to produce the most effective vaccines against this virus.

Our Journey into the business world. Many of you shared our journey into the cupcake/bakery business, partnering with Little Cakes Kitchen and working with Gelson’s Markets in both Del Mar and La Costa over the last few years.   I vividly remember the night before we opened in Del Mar.  Don and I, excited and exhausted, were in the kitchen setting everything up, prepping and baking to get as much product on the shelves as possible.  We learned a lot that night (and early morning).   Though I am no longer working in the bakery business, I really enjoyed my time learning about food production, building connections within the food industry and serving the customers of Gelson’s Markets.   I am happy to report that Little Cakes Kitchen is doing well and looks to continue to grow in the future with wonderful opportunities.
